About the Lyceum
Humanities

Being a basic school of a state university – the Higher School of Economics, the Lyceum provides a high level of education allowing our students to enter this higher educational institution as well as the others.

The Lyceum introduces subject teaching from the very first year of studies. From the first year students study not reading and writing, but fine belles-lettres, which gives a deeper insight into the subject.

For younger children the Lyceum introduces non-traditional subjects such as the history of Russia, natural studies, foreign studies, which give children a chance to comprehend such subjects as geography, history, literature, foreign languages, etc. in a wider way – especially in high school.

Lyceum’s curriculum pays hign attention to subjects such as literature, history and Russian language compared to the traditional school curriculum. There is even such a subject as Prosody.

Above all, the Lyceum’s teachers give their students the necessary skills of how to research: it is enhanced by creative writing in literature, history, history of arts and other Humanities as well as project-writing activities.
