About the Lyceum
![]() The Lyceums festivals for students are something we are very proud of. They entertain as well as develop and form many necessary qualities for our students. Some holidays are sometimes in accordance with the folklore calendar and linked with Christmas and Maslenitsa traditions as well as with the traditions of English-speaking countries. The others are dated for the days which are important for the Lyceum itself, or the days which we consider to be important for us. Every year on the 19th of October we traditionally celebrate “The day of Pushkin's Lyceum”. We celebrate it with a party with readings of Russian poets' verses as well as with singing romances. Our musicians write the music for these romances. We also show small scenes form the life of the students of Pushkin's Lyceum. Both children and their parents are fond of gathering in the concert hall to listen to the performances of the young musicians who study in the musical school of the Lyceum or to watch the choreography master-class. Special words should be said about the Lyceum’s theatre. Its performances are usually a spectacular and an emotional sight. All the Lyceum participate in preparation for these performances. The teachers often write the playscripts, our musicians compose the music and record it, and we make the scenery and the costumes all together. There are a lot of serious performances in the past record of the theatre - such plays as "The Twelfth Night" and "The Midsummer Night's Dream" by Shakespeare, "The Night before Christmas" by Gogol, "The SnowMaiden" by Ostrovsky, etc. Lately, we have staged some perfomances in English and French. Such plays as "Westside Story" and "Notre Dame de Paris" musicals are also staged. In 1999 the theatre of the "Moscow Lyceum "Stupeni" won the first place at the festival of Moscow school theatres dedicated to the 200th Pushkin's anniversary for staging of "Little Tragedies" by A.S. Pushkin and "Young Peasant Lady". |
